Get Your Domain Listed Quickly

I think we all know by now that the best traffic is free traffic from the search engines. Not only is search engine traffic free, it is the most targeted traffic you can get. Obviously, the first thing you need to do to get search engine traffic is get your domain listed in the search engines.

What this Article is About

I'm going to concentrate on how to get your domain listed quickly in Google, but most of what I have to say will also get your domain listed in other search engines. When you get your domain listed in Google, it will also start showing up in Yahoo, MSN, and the other more minor search engines. Google has the most potential to give you massive traffic and it is usually much easier to get your domain listed quickly in Google than in any of the other search engines.

What this Article is Not About

I'm not going to tell you how to get the highest search ranking or how to choose the best domain name in this article. Never fear, however, those topics will be covered in future articles. Right now I'm just giving you the techniques you can use to get your domain listed quickly in Google. You can use one or all of these tips.

Tip One to Get Your Domain Listed Quickly

Create a Blog on Blogger. It doesn't matter if the site you want listed is a blog or a traditional Web site. No matter how much Google claims they don't list Blogger blogs more quickly than they list other blogs or sites, they do. I have created a Blogger blog in the morning and found it fully indexed and showing up in the SERPs that afternoon.

If your site is a blog you can choose to leave it on Blogger or move it elsewhere. Once your domain is listed in Google, the Google bot will be back soon to keep you updated. If it is a traditional Web site, you have two ways to go. You can set the blog to use your domain name and move the domain to your final site after it is listed. Or, you can make the blog permanent without a domain name and just use it as a gateway to your main site.

Tip Two to Get Your Domain Listed Quickly

This one may seem obvious, but many people don't think to do it. If you already have a well indexed blog or site, just add a link to the new domain. This will get the Google bots to spider and index your new domain quickly. If you don't have a well established site, you can ask a friend or online acquaintance who does for a favor. They only need to host the link until your site gets listed.

Tip Three to Get Your Domain Listed Quickly

This one is quick, easy, free, and very effective. I'm sure you have heard of domain parking. That's not the tip, by the way. But, there is a company that offers an alternative to domain parking called Domain Embarking. The primary purpose in using this company with your domain is to make money. However, they have a well indexed network of sites and if you use them to launch your domain it will get listed in Google and other search engines very quickly. Once your domain is listed you can move it to your permanent site.

Tip Four to Get Your Domain Listed Quickly

If your site is a blog or has an RSS feed you can submit it to Google and to 30 other RSS feed directories. I've created a list of links directly to the submit pages so you can do an easy and free RSS feed submit for all of them. This will get you a number of free backlinks and will help you get your domain listed quickly.

Tip Five to Get Your Domain Listed Quickly

If you participate in any active forums that are indexed by Google you should have a link to your new site in your signature. You can determine if a forum is indexed by Google by just doing a quick search for a fairly unique phrase in one of the posts. Choose a post that is at least a couple days old and enter the search phrase in quotes.

Any and all of these tips will help you get your domain listed quickly in Google and other search engines. Once your domain is listed you can concentrate on building a quality site with well optimized content and start working toward getting listed high in the SERPs, or search engine result pages, for those of you who are not into acronyms.

Where were you months ago? I've spent many hours and more money than I care to admit and in one article you pretty much summed it all up. Nice and clear and concise. Any more advice, please keep it coming.
